Call for Bakers, Volunteers for 2012 Bake Sale

The tradition continues. Friends of Cranbury Park will hold its seventh (!) annual bake sale on Nov. 18th, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, at Gallaher Mansion at Cranbury Park. Once again, we need your help.

For the uninitiated, The Great Decadence, as FCP President Celia Maddox has dubbed it, is our signature event, eagerly awaited by the whole city. In four hours, from noon to 4 p.m., we sell a bakery worth of pies, cakes, muffins, breads, cookies, jellies and candies, all beautifully packaged and suitable for giving.  And we have a rollicking, sugar-fueled good time doing it.

To all of you bake sale pros – and we know who you are – we’re counting on you to repeat your brilliant performances from bake sales past. To you newcomers, we are eager to see the delectable edibles you’ll bring to the party and the team spirit you’ll add to the mix.

Time is tight. Please respond to this email by letting us know we can count on your help. We need baked goods to sell, volunteers to post signs and folks to check in donations the day before. We also need Friends to work during the sale and to help clean up afterwards.

If you are a baker, we eagerly await your pies, cakes and cupcakes, cookies and tea breads, tarts and pies. Specialty items – Leslie Vincent’s red pepper jelly, Marti Coleman’s handcrafted chocolates, Ursula Caterbone’s beautifully packaged dog treats – sell briskly.

Let’s get cracking! Together, we can make this a bake sale to savor!
